WFTA Presents Black History Month 2024 Reclaiming Narratives
BHM24 "Reclaiming Narratives" theme not only seeks to challenge stereotypes but also empowers people to embrace and celebrate their heritage, paving the way for a more inclusive and accurate representation of Black experiences.
Waltham Forest Twinning Association has partnered with Frederick Bremer School, Hawkswood School, and the Local Community to create artworks and poetry for BHM24, inspired by Black British artists such as Barbara Walker, Chris Ofili, Lubaina Himid, Benjamin Zephaniah and Nairobi Thompson who critically engage with personal experiences and historical narratives.
This year This intergenerational project is funded by the LBWF Fellowship Fund and is part of Waltham Forest Twinning Association’s residency at the William Morris Gallery.
