Health & Heritage Awareness Sponsored Walk
Saturday 11th July 2015 It was great to hear my fellow walkers say that they really enjoyed the walk! Well we did have a lovely sunny morning. For this year’s sponsored walk we wanted to include a ‘heritage’ element and were delighted when David Boote of the Leytonstone Historical Society (second from left in the picture) not only provided notes for us but also joined us on the walk. Many, many thanks David! Not only did we learn about the past of the various points of interest along the walk but also learned more about the planned Lea Bridge Road ‘Mini-Holland’ Programme when we came across council officers at the Whipps Cross roundabout. At the end of the walk we made a very welcome stop at The Walnut Tree for a bite. As the Leytonstone Festival and Arts Trail were in full flow some of us were able to take that in as well. |
Massive thank you to all the walkers.
